About

Jenna Ritter is a self-directed, early career artist based in Santa Fe, NM. Raised in NYC and inspired by a spiritual connection she felt to the area during a 2012 visit, she moved to Santa Fe in 2015 and began to seriously create her own art in 2017.

A core insight for Jenna comes from the realization that to know nature is to know oneself, a concept she discovered when on retreat in India 20 years ago. This experience continually informs her practice of exploring the deep connection and profound relationship between the external world and her inner self.

Jenna’s process is central to her work. By way of the many steps of handgathering and processing the clay, to coil building each unique work, to the final pit firing, an intentional and meditative practice focused on the nature of exploring the alchemy of breaking down to mix up to make whole again continually reveals the nourishing power of transformation.

Whether through clay or paint, Jenna's finished pieces invite viewers into new perspectives and expanded knowing, offering portals of connection and harmony in this chaotic, fragmented and troubled time. Her work often reflects her spiritual connection to nature and inspires contemplation and harmony in the viewer.

Jenna’s clay art has been exhibited in numerous juried and curated shows since 2020; she began showing her paintings in 2022, which incorporate natural earth pigments and are often expressive and abstract. New explorations are directed towards stone.

Jenna’s clay works can be seen at Metier Studio Gallery, Dixon, NM and DeBilzan: The Galleries on Palace, Santa Fe, NM. Private visits to Jenna’s studio are available by appointment.
